I have been working here for some time and now I feel a sense of comfort here. People have different problems but I am lucky that I work with some really nice guys. There is a good competition but no bickering. My manager is also pretty level headed and never pushes us too hard.

Our company is one of the most solid IT industry and even the recession could not affect it so much as the others. Sure we had to cut a few jobs but compared to others, it was nothing. Our trainings are also one of the best in the industry.

What I have realized after working for all these years in this company is that I should have left long ago. The company is in a bad shape and the people who work here are mainly responsible for it. Unlike other places we have a supportive and positive management but the employees simply do not care about this. Most of the people working here only come to the office so that they can get their pay slip at the end of the month and never try to do anything outside what has been allotted to them.

I work in the NY/NJ region and can say that almost everybody is overworked and underpaid. The only people who make good money are those who are in sales. A Ferrari was given to the salesperson who had the best performance yet most other employees were told they were going to receive little to no increase. Sorry, but a piece of equipment that was sold by sales makes money once. The field support who maintain the equipment creates return customers.
I'm not sure where these people who commented work or what they consider good money. The NY/NJ region brings in nearly 60% of the companies total revenue. The cost of living in NY and NJ is extremely high yet the company takes every opportunity to take more away from the employees.

EMC is a sales-driven culture that rewards the few and pushes success at all costs. The compensation is excellent for those who excel, you just go in knowing that you are only as good as your last quarter. I spent 6 years there in sales. I succeeded but actually had to fight for my customers interests. I had two performance reviews in six years and never once was asked about career aspirations. I knew that going in, but eventually the "what have you done for me lately" culture gets stale. I occasionally had to put my ethics aside in the interest of the company. That is where I drew the line and decided to find another company. My new job was one where I could not only exceed personally, but feel good and ethical about the company I represented.
EMC had too many inexperienced middle manager who grew up with the success of the company in the late nineties and early 2000's. These managers/directors did not have other leadership expereince and only knew the EMC culture. Some groups learned how to grow out the early culture but they are few. Too many just threw more gasoline and pressure on the old culture and expected results. Just the immaturity of a company that has huge potential to be so much more than they are.

EMC is a great company to work for. Of course you have to manage your work/life balance on your own, your boss isn't going to schedule time for you and your wife to spend together but if you make it a priority no one will mess with it. Work hard, play hard is definitely the culture here and we have a lot of fun at our jobs. I trust most of the people I work with/for, I feel that I have a future with the company, and a career path. EMC drives, rewards and appreciates innovation. I constantly have opportunities to 'jump ship' and have always decided to stay here.

It feels great to see people envy me when they hear that I work at EMC but the truth this is no place for a woman to make her career. The place is filled with internal politics and the management has no interest in advancing women to lead positions. Most of the people who started working here with me have got promotions while I am expected to remain satisfied with some meager raise just because I am a woman. I am getting irritated by this attitude of the company for which I am working very hard and planning to get out of here.

Working for EMC Corporation is truly a great chance. Still there are many areas of the company that has to be revamped if it wants to be the best in its field. What I have seen, after being around 10 years in the job, is that the policy of layoffs is too aggressive. If you are little short of your expected number, you may be unceremoniously thrown out! Also the company needs to provide us with better computers and other accessories if it wants us to deliver. My monitor is such a backdated one and that too faulty because of which I lose valuable time while working. Repeated request have not yielded any result so far!

At EMC I am always being sent to projects which have nothing in common and every time I manage to learn something new I get assigned to a project I know nothing about. I have been here for 3 years and still I am not aware of which department I am really working for. This means that I am the proverbial ???jack of all trades and master of none??? which reflects on my salary because of the minimal the raises I get. All I want is to work at a single technology for some time so that I can create my niche there and show everyone that I can be really good at something.

My job at EMC helps me interact with some very efficient people and deal with lots of new technologies. The salary I earn working at EMC is really good and the company also offers some great benefits to all of us. Another thing I like about this place is that it allows a lot of horizontal movement within the company which gives me a sense of flexibility of changing my role whenever I want to. The company also has a great growth potential for me and I also want to learn as much as I can here. The salary is good and I get some nice benefits from the company.
