I am working under a manager who thinks that women are only suitable to stay at home and look after their families. Since the day I have joined I never heard a word of encouragement. He always tries to come up with ways to make me leave. I am given the toughest assingments and have to work longer than the rest of the team . This is unfair.

I have been working here for long and I just love my job. The best part of the company is that it rewards hard working people. If you have the fire in you, you will be rewarded here. Many don't like the aggressive attitude, but I like it. It encouraged me to give my best.

Working in a company like Dell always made me proud and in spite of some recent troubles I still feel the same way. The people running this company know what they are doing and are more concerned about the employees than about profit. I have always found a lot of learning opportunities in many areas in our office and my boss has encouraged me to use all those chances to learn as much as possible. There have been some problems recently but I am sure that people have problems everywhere and we just need to be positive.

Dell has a solid strategy to build on. the problem? Managers don't always carry out what is intended by the strategy. For instance a decision was made on the number of direct reports a manager has needed to be increased. Instead of reducing the number of managers (which was the intent), many managers were simply made non-managers and their people then reported to the next-line manager. In reality, nothing changed. Same number of managers, just that in the HR system, it now says they are not a manager. Another issue is that while Micheal Dell stated he wanted to eliminate beaurocracy, it has only increased.

There are several disadvantages of working in a company like Dell and being geographically separated from the management is a big one because the management kind of forgets you. The management is disinterested about what is going on in each group and that has made people like me totally without focus as I do not see my career going anywhere here. The company always overlooks the performance of the existing employees and hires people in leadership positions from outside. This is hampering the morale of me and all my colleagues who intend to grow in this company.

As an employee of Dell what I can think all about is whether my job will be here tomorrow or not! It has grown too much too fast and now rapid pruning is being done. Even people in management level, like me are not sure of their job! Sure they pay is good and benefits at par industry standard but if I have to live my days on anti anxiety pills than it is better that I start looking somewhere else (and something that I have started as well)

Getting promoted in Dell is the toughest job. You may have to wait long years, like I ma doing, to even be considered for promotion. The senior management live in a different world altogether and only ???comes??? down if we have to fix something they bungled! This is not a place for family people and I have seen many women colleagues leave because of the long weekends and overtime. One day, someone bought her 6-month old baby to office because there was some emergency in home and no one was there to look after the baby; she was publicly reprimanded by her manager! She left soon after for another company that had more family-oriented outlook and working environment.

I worked at Dell for a long time when the respected people who know the technology and really do the work that helps in maintain the position in the market. Then suddenly the management started to take over and things started to go downhill. I was in the designing section of our products and though they had no knowledge of the technicalities involved the management people began to poke their nose in everything. We lost our freedom which had always been the best thing about working here and everything got entangled in the red tape which forced me to leave my job.

Working in Dell is by itself a great feeling. It is a global leader in its field and you get to be part of all this. The company is very lenient. All you are expected is to do your job. No one is looking over your shoulders. This allows you to get an excellent work life balance. My project work gives me the opportunity to travel to places where I could not have gone without this job. The benefits offered by Dell are the best in the industry. The Dell environment encourages people to grow as leaders in their own fields.
