I must be the most unfortunate person in my office. I am working in a team of useless people who are always telling me how great they are. These middle aged guys have no idea about the latest technologies and need my help at every step. Instead of being thnakful they always try to put me down.

Things are not right at CSC and as an employee here I have never been as disturbed as I am now. The company management never really communicates with us and we are always left out of the important decisions. I am in a managerial post and feel that they need to listen to whatever I have to say about the guys working in my team. I feel sorry that some of the good people in my team have already lost their jobs.

CSC is forcing all possible US employees to use 2 weeks of their
vacation time with 10 days notice in order to make their "books" look
better for share holder value. They see it as a debt. Employees that
do not have the vacation time built up will "be granted the bonus" of
going "negative" in their vacation balance for this. This is after
forcing all US employees to set up the use of any additional built up
vacation time by March 31. There is something funky going on... During
the "boom" of the last 5 years, I am down 20% in my income after
transferring to CSC, including any "raises" or "bonuses". And my
workload is 3X what it used to be. Sys Admins are quiting all the
time, and that was before the "hard times" hit.
Management will never know who you are or what you accomplish all
year. And if you do happen to have a Manager get to know you it will
not matter, as you will be "re-org'd" at least twice a year to have
different managers. That works out handy for them consistently at
review time.
The use Lotus Notes for their E-mail and Databases to track projects.
Yes, Lotus Notes from like from the 80's.
Any activity has to be recorded in at least 3 different applications,
and often it takes longer to accomplish the paperwork than the
blockpoint or action you were trying to complete.
You will get worked. You will get experience. After awhile you will
get out and get paid for all that experience at another company.

There is no future for me here and I have no idea how long I will have to continue doing all this hard work. The management is busy with their personal life and does not pay any attention to the activities of the employees in the company. We are constantly made to work on different projects which do not have any connection and there in no one to give us any guidance. The management does not give promotions based on performances but on personal relations.

I am working at CSC for nearly two years now and in all this time the only word I heard from my manager is that he is waiting for the management to release funds or that the management is not responding to his requests for more participation while fixing project deadlines. I have no idea whether I should blame my manager or the management. There is a total lack of communication between the people working in this organization. No one is interested in what is going on under them. I feel sad to say I have lost focus at such an early stage of my career.

projects for the company. I am the leader of one of the best performing teams here yet till date I have never received any positive feedback from my manager and it is increasing becoming difficult for me to maintain the morale of my team members. The poor fellows who work under me hardly get any raises though they have to work very hard to meet the strict deadlines that the management negotiates with the clients.

I am lucky to be working in the project management support section of CSC and that gives me a chance to deal with the resource and project management including budgeting for any project. The work that I do is extremely dynamic and in some cases where we act as partners to our clients the job becomes really rewarding. The problem here is that my performance is never truly reviewed by my mid-management senior and that means I never get the raises I deserve making my salary quite poor compared to today??™s market.

With an array of lucrative opportunities and a healthy working environment, CSC has been a great company to work with! The system of feedback and performance based awards have geared me to attain a much higher level in the success path! As an employee of CSC, I am free to choose from any of the most suitable areas of operation and also get necessary trainings for the same. But that has resulted in a office atmosphere where everyone thinks that they are in a contest! And I am ready for the challenge for it has also helped me to be more dynamic in my approach.

I actually quite enjoy CSC (not like all my colleagues). I joined CSC after graduating 2 years ago. It's been a good ride from a learning point-of-view. I've seen a lot of different projects and gained exposure to many kinds of customer problems, so that's all good.
And the stock is up this year, despite how the overall economy is doing, so that's a plus, too. As a pretty junior guy, I haven't been making much money yet but I've paid off my student loans. Anyway, I view this place more for learning than a real money-making opportunity.
I'm not sure about the long-term direction about the company. My buddies and I have constant debates. When I look at the business solutions & services unit, it's doing well, I think. And we're getting more mid-sized business all the time. So, I'm hopeful. But long-term, I might go someplace else anyway after having a few more years of experience under my belt.
